Spain is well covered by both bus and in most cities by rail networks. Journeys between major towns there's often little to choose between them in cost or speed. The best way and by far the quickest are by buses. They tend to be quicker and will cost you less. Some train stations tend to be several kilometers from the towns or village. Bus Buses will most likely meet most of your transport needs. For many smaller villages you access them only by bus.
Most of the time there is always bus leaving from the capital of their province. In generally buses are quite reliable and comfortable enough - especially for long distances, with prices pretty standard at around €10 per 100km. One thing to keep in mind, many towns still have no main bus station, and buses may leave from a variety of places (even if they're heading in the same direction, since some destinations are served by more than one companies. Taxis wait in front of the two entrances to take to a hotel or any location you choose.
Train
RENFE, the Spanish rail company, operates variety of train services, divided into three main sections. Cercanías are local commuter trains in and around the major cities. Regional’s are equivalent to buses in speed and cost, and run between cities - Regional express and Delta trains can cover longer distances. Largo recorrido (long-distance) express trains have a bewildering number of names: in ascending order of speed and luxury.
For budget travelers however, it can mean switching between regional trains to find an alternative route, for more information you can call RENFE information and reservation number on 902 240 202. You'll need to speak Spanish - or visit their website at www.renfe.es Keep in mind that different trains have their own separate timetables; so make sure you have the right information.
Taxi
If you compare many countries, taxis are reasonably cheap throughout Spain, but all are metered. Drivers are obligated to carry a booklet of the official rates authorized by the local town hall. Since there are supplements, such as extra baggage, night service, etc it may be prudent to clarify the price in advance as unscrupulous taxi drivers have been known to charge more to unsuspecting tourists.
Air
There are a lot airlines operating to and from Spain. Companies like Iberia, Span air and Air Europe, operate an extensive network of internal flights. While these are quite reasonable by international standards, they still work out very pricey, and are only really worth considering if you're in a hurry and need to cross the entire country.
You can connect from Madrid, Barcelona or any other major city to get to or from. There also many flights to major tourist place like Balearic Islands, for which flights are only marginally more expensive in peak season you may well, have to reserve long in advance for these.
If you coming from North America or other parts of the world, you will have a lot of flights heading to Spain and the prices will vary depending from where you’re coming from and what time of the year.
